Ninhao.com provides online Chinese video courses that incorporate a combination of audio and visual lessons with online study tools and professional teacher support to help you learn in a fast and easy way. Founded in Beijing, China in 2009, Ninhao.com aims to provide Mandarin Chinese learners with a convenient and effective way to independently study Chinese.

2 What is the teaching method?

Learning at Ninhao.com is easy, convenient and entertaining! We’ve developed animated videos aimed to enhance the user’s learning experience through the integration of visual and auditory tools. Each course contains a video demo that introduces a step-by-step process for learning. At Ninhao.com you have the freedom to choose lessons according to your interests and Chinese level. Through the Ninhao.com method of learning you’ll find that learning Chinese is fun and easy.

3 What courses to take?

At Ninhao.com we offer a pre-test that determines your Chinese level and enable us to recommend suitable courses to maximize your progress.

4 Will you be adding more lessons to the website?

Yes. Ninhao.com’s course archives are continually growing to give your subscription more value. We will also be adding new courses such as Travel and Business in the near future.

5 How does the "Lesson Studied" progress bar work?

For all lessons that are accompanied by a lesson exercise, when you score 80% or over in a lesson exercise, Ninhao's system will mark that lesson as successfully studied. This means that even if you don't get every single question right in the Exercises section for a lesson, you can still move onto another lesson.

If a lesson doesn't have any exercise accompanying it, Ninhao will still mark the lesson studied after you have gone through the lesson content.

II Billing & Payment Questions

1 Do courses require payment?

All ninhao.com online video courses and lessons are free to use. Access to downloads of ninhao mp3 files and pdf files which require ninhao credits to unlock at the rate of 20 ninhao credits each. ninhao 1-on-1 Live Teacher service requires credits to use; credits can be accumulated through certain ninhao activities as well as for purchase.

1. Users will receive 59 credits upon signing up.
2. Users will receive 99 credits upon activating an account.
3. Users will receive 99 credits upon completing their profile.

2 What about all the other learning materials (e.g. My notes, My words)?

The following will continue to be free: Community, Learning Tools, Teacher Blog, China Guide.
If you have saved words in the past to these sections, you will still be able to access these.

3 What are my payment options?

Ninhao credits can be purchased through secure credit card transactions, PayPal payments, or via direct bank transfer. Please use our secure online payment terminals to complete credit card or PayPal payment. Please contact us via email to obtain direct bank transfer instructions.

III About live tutor

1 Does Ninhao offer 1-on-1 lessons with a tutor?

Yes. Ninhao offers 1-on-1 online "Live Tutor" lessons, where you can practice your spoken Chinese with expert teachers from Beijing. Classes last 30 minutes, and can taken at anytime suitable for you, from anywhere were you have a computer and internet access. 2 How to Apply for a Free Trial Lesson?

Step One: After registering for a ninhao account, click on the "Apply for a Free Lesson" button located at the bottom of your Dashboard to apply for your Free Trial Lesson (refer to picture 1).

Step Two: After clicking on "Apply for a Free Lesson" button you need to fill out an information form (refer to picture 2). Once you have completed filling out the form, submit the application for a teacher to confirm. (Please be as detailed as possible when filling this form, as it will make it easier for a teacher to process your application.)

(1) If your application has been rejected, you will see picture 1.

Step Three: After verification, click "Schedule it Now" (refer to picture 3) and you will be taken to "www.ninhao.com/my_live_tutors" page (refer to picture 4).

Step Four: Click "Reserve" to schedule your Free Trial Lesson. First-time students booking their first appointment must fill out their Skype contact details (refer to picture 5).

Step Five: Upon submitting your details for reserving a Free Trial Lesson, the webpage will automatically take you to the "Tutorial Timetable" (refer to picture 6). Here, you will be prompted to select a time most convenient for you and wait for a teacher to confirm.

After a teacher has confirmed a Trial Lesson, your scheduled time and date will appear on your Dashboard (refer to picture 7).

After confirming the date and time of your Trial Lesson with your teacher (as seen on the student's dashboard), the student will receive a confirmation e-mail as well as a friendly e-mail reminder one day prior to the scheduled lesson.

3 How to exchange ninhao credits for a Live Teacher session?

Step One: On the top right corner of your dashboard, click on "Pricing" or on "Purchase a Live ONE-ON-ONE Package" which is located at the bottom of your dashboard (refer to picture 1). In either case, you will be taken to the webpage "www.ninhao.com/pricing" or "www.ninhao.com/live-tutors".

Step Two: Click the "Exchange" button to exchange your ninhao credits for a Live Teacher session.

Step Three: after clicking the "Exchange" button, you will then be taken to "My Live Tutors" located at "www.ninhao.com/my_live_tutors". At this point you will need to allow time for a ninhao teacher to create a personalized study plan for you. If a study plan has not been established, a "No Lesson Plan" message will notify that this step has yet to be completed (refer to picture 3).

Step Four: Once a ninhao teacher has created your personalized study plan, you can go to the "My Tutorials" page to select an appropriate time for your lesson and then click "Reserve" (refer to picture 5). Once you have clicked "Reserve" you will be directed to our "Tutorial Timetable" page.

Note: to ensure proper results, be sure to confirm your time zone information on your ninhao account.

Step Five: A Live Teacher lesson that has not yet been confirmed by a ninhao teacher will be shown as "Not Confrimed" on the "My Tutorials" page (refer to picture 6), while a Live Teacher lesson that has been confirmed will be shown as "Confirmed" (refer to picture 7).

4 How to Purchase a Live Teacher Session?

Step One: On the top right corner of your dashboard, click on "Pricing" or on "Purchase a Live ONE-ON-ONE Package" which is located at the bottom of your dashboard (refer to picture 1). In either case, you will be taken to the webpage "www.ninhao.com/pricing" or "www.ninhao.com/live-tutors" (refer to picture 2 ).

Step Two: Select the lesson package that is right for you then click "Buy Now" and you will automatically be taken to the ninhao Shopping Cart, (refer to picture 3).

Step Three: Click "Checkout" when you are ready to complete your transaction (refer to picture 4). On the "Checkout" page, please fill out the required information and select your method of payment and click the "Continue Checkout" button.

Step Four: After clicking on "Continue to Checkout" you will arrive at the "Review Order" page (refer to picture 5). Review your information to ensure that it is correct and then click "Submit Order" to complete the transaction (refer to picture 6).

IV Frequently Asked Questions

1 I didn't receive an email for activation after I registered for an account. What do I do?

To activate your account, please follow the directions below:

1. Sign up for an account.
2. After you have successfully signed up, you will be redirected to our main page. Once there, click the 'Account' button located at the upper right corner of this page
3. Click "re-send validation e-mail."
4. A validation email will be sent to your email.

2 How do I know what my level of Chinese is?

To test your current level of Chinese, take ninhao's "Pre-test"designed by our team of professional Chinese teachers. After you have completed the test, you will be directed to a list of suitable courses designed for your level of Chinese ability.

3 How do I start studying Chinese?

ninhao has developed a system in which users are given recommendations to the most effective method of utilizing ninhao's content.

1. Log onto ninhao.com with your account information.
2. Click the link, "http://www.ninhao.com/my_course_page."
3. Locate the green button to the right labeled "Create a Study Plan."
4. Fill in the respective information given by the prompts.
5. A study plan will be generated by the ninhao system. Use this to take advantage of all the ninhao products and services to accelerate your Chinese learning!

4 How much time should I spend studying?

Studies have shown that retaining knowledge is more effective when done in short periods of time with more frequency, rather than longer periods of time with less frequency. With our online tools and mobile apps, we help you stay connected whenever and wherever at your convenience. In general, we recommend that students spend at least 45 minutes a day studying and reviewing the material.

5 What if I have specific questions about Chinese? Can I ask a teacher?

ninhao's team of professional Chinese teachers are available for your learning needs! Ask a question by clicking "Ask a Teacher" from your Dashboard. Our teachers will respond to you within one business day.

6 Is it possible to try out ninhao's services before making a purchase?

Once you register for a ninhao account, you will automatically be given 500 Credits. We recommend that you create a study plan after the registration process. Once completed, you will be awarded with another 500 Credits. ninhao Credits can be used in exchange for any product, excluding books. Use these Credits to try out ninhao's comprehensive library of lessons and tools!

7 How can change my profile information?

To change the information on your profile, refer to the following instructions:

1. Once you have logged onto the ninhao webpage, you will be directed to the Dashboard.
2. On the Dashboard, click the button labeled "Account" on the upper right-hand corner.
3. Locate the green button to the right labeled "Create a Study Plan."
4. Change your information as necessary.

8 I don't remember my ninhao password. What do I do?

When logging onto the ninhao website, click "Forgot your password" and enter your registered e-mail address to retrieve your password. A reminder will be sent to your email.

9 How do I unsubscribe from ninhao emails?
