Characters in simple Chinese phrases-好(hǎo)

Hello! 你好！Nǐhǎo!

好(hǎo)：好is made up of 女(nǚ)and 子(zǐ), in which the left part and the right part are both characters. This happens a lot in Chinese characters which is why Chinese characters are not as difficult as you might think. 女(nǚ)means “the female”, 子(zǐ)means “person of child”, so女(nǚ) and 子(zǐ) together literally means “young girls”. And when speaking of a young girl, what is the first thing you can think of? Well the ancient Chinese people considered young girls to be good looking. That is what好(hǎo)originally means. Nowadays we use 好as in hello你好(nǐhǎo), or good person好人(hǎo rén), 好means good. The meaning is coming from “good looking” and as time moves on, now only the meaning “good” remains. So你好(nǐhǎo) literally “you good”, I think nobody will be in a bad mood when hearing this; isn’t it a “good” character?
