Chinese Characters

3.965515
The Chinese writing system is completely different from the English writing system. English and other Western languages use the Latin alphabet and are largely phonetic, which means words are pronounced as they are written. Chinese, on the other hand, has no alphabet. Instead, it uses characters, which is called Hànzì. Chinese characters – or Hanzi – may seem scary when you first look at them, but they’re actually pretty logical once you break them down. And believe it or not, learning how to read and write Hanzi is a big help when it comes to speaking Chinese. This course will teach you the fundamentals of character-writing and reading, providing you with a solid foundation for further study.
