Survival Chinese is for students who have studied Chinese for at least 50 hours, understand the basics of pinyin, and have mastered about 300 Chinese words. This unit deals with situations that foreigners living in China face on a daily basis, with lessons that include useful, common vocabulary and sentence patterns. Topics include exchanging money, buying a phone card, seeing a doctor, taking a cab, and more.
